Winter War Russians
In keeping with the weather, here's another winter unit, this time the Strelets Red Army of Winter War I got for Christmas. The figures have lots of character and are much nicer than the Italeri and Pegasus figures I have in my other two battalion.
I'll be using it to accompany the rest of my Russians and I'll use the Zvezda mini-sets to provide the required MMG and mortar to make up a full RF battalion.

Lovely work on the uniforms, equipment and especially the bases. Have you considered applying a flesh wash to their faces?

ReplyDeleteWith that many Russians, you need an appropriate number of Finns to oppose them. One should do!

Nick, have tried a wash before, but they look too sun-tanned, which look wrong any suggestions on what mix to use?

ReplyDeleteYes, I know what you're talking about. I base, wash, then highlight the nose, brow and top of the cheeks (as best I can - I an't no expert!) with the base colour again.
I think that'd work with your Strelets, they've got good faces.
