Germans completed for the big game

OK so with the along with the medics I painted/reworked all the other figures needed for my Sword beach defenders.
The figures in the tobruks will be used but in the actual defences rather than my tobruks. Rather than add Panzerfausts to the figures I have used the SHQ panzerfausts to make markers so I can remove them once used.
Two Festung Paks and a 155mm gun need to be added, but they will be provided by someone else.

  1. What's a "tobruk"??? I can guess, but have never heard the term before??? Is that the guys in the little individual pill boxes?

  2. Also called a "ringstand", only the top of the concrete structure would be visible. Some nice details here

Perhaps you could sail across and have a look sometime.

  3. It'd take me until next D Day anniversary to get there if I started now!

Interesting stuff indeed... I wonder how the turreted ones operated - did they just plonk the turret down and hope it was pointing in the right direction or did it have a traversing mechanism???

  4. Steve, looking at the Osprey D Day fortifications book it is quite clear there that the turrets rotate.

  6. Connor, I use Rapid Fire, it's a basic set but produces a fun game provided you are not into the exact detail of armour penetration and low level infantry combat.
