Winter Romanians - finished at last

After several months on their painting tray I've finished my Stalingrad Romanians at last, so now hopefully I've got enough Axis troops for a game. The figures are mainly the Strelets Romanians in greatcoats, plus a few Hungarians and Italians added to make up the numbers

The First to Fight Bofors 37mm AT gun is a lovely little model, but so low that I could only use lying figures to provide a crew.

Charlie Foxtrot - 20mm barn

I picked this up at WMMS, it was nice and easy to assemble. I'm not sure whether to ad a base as it's slightly longer than my other "modular" buildings.

Crusader crossbowmen

A couple of units one painted as Hospitallers and the other as Templars. Figures are mainly Strelats, plus a few Redbox.

US rework - M10s and Dodge Ambulances

Some quick fixes, simply repainting plus new decals added.

A pair of Fabbri/Eaglemoss diecast M10s (the sort you get for £2 at the Works) that I found on the B&B at WMMS

Crews will be added when I get my hands on the new Orion US tank crews.

A couple of cheap plastic models found in a mixed box of plastics at South Cheshire Militaire that are a very close match for a Dodge ambulance.

The decals came from an old Skytrex set that were being sold under the table by one of the Modelling societies at WMMS.

On the workbench - April 2016

Quarter of the year gone already. March was something of a dead loss as I had a bad cold that lost me nearly a weeks painting time and then two weeks holiday. So I'm behind plan and I need to catch up. My current plans are to work on

  • Repaint a pair of diecast M10s and a pair of Dodge ambulance look-a-likes in US colours
  • Assemble and paint a Charlie-Foxtrot barn
  • Three units of Crusader spearmen
  • Two units of Crusader crossbowmen
  • Four units of Scourrers
  • Two units of Burgundian Coustiliers
  • Two small units of mounted crossbowmen
  • Some Burgundian and Wars of the Roses Command stands
  • The Romanian winter infantry

A few extra winter Russians

If you are wondering why there has been a lack of posts, it's because my wife and I decided to take a much needed last minute break for two weeks in Madeira. Just before leaving I managed to finish the last few figures needed for my winter Soviet infantry.

The 82mm mortar is Zvezda with one figure donated to the scratch built 50mm, there other one is Pegasus. The AT rifleman is from Italeri.

More - Saracens - infantry this time

Finished on the morning after WMMS, These will provide some skirmishers for my Saracen force, plus backup by some Ottoman heavy infantry.
