yet more Romans!!
A bit harder this time as I had to deal with the broken pilums and replace all the decals so that the units looked consistent.

Roman Auxilliaries
Continuing the rebasing, I worked on a couple of units each of bow and javelin armed auxilliaries. Each existing unit of 24 figures bacame a close order unit of 16 and an open order unit of 8.
All the figures are Rospaks who only produced two poses.
Luckily with these there was very little rework except a couple of broken javelins needing replaced.
If I need to use the figures in their old WRG 6th context, then I simply have to alternate the close and open order bases
Now I'm into the more serious reorganisation and repairs

The Legions are marching
Finished rebasing the first 6 units of Early Imperial Roman Legionaries
These were quite simiple as I was reducing the unit sizes down from 24 to 16. The remainders will need more repairs and reworking to make complete units.

Stepping back in time - Roman Cavalry
The first of the reworked Rospaks Early Imperial Romans are the cavalry
Unlike the Greeks I decided not to try swapping the arms around. Partly because I thought I might need the sword arms fort the infantry

Last of the Greeks - commanders and cavalry
The last but hardest stage of rebasing my Greek army, and it is now completed.
A couple of the mounted commanders were 25mm metal figures, and the other was a Rospak conversion. I gave each one a supporting infantryman, for the others I added some standard bearers from the last remaining hoplite figures. It's not clear if the ancient Greeks used Vexillia, but it looks much better. The Spartan commander was a Rospaks Roman centurion and his standard bearer was a odd Rospak phalangite that I found in a job-lot of figures.
For the Thessalian cavalry I used some Rospaks that had been converted to Companions with tinfoil cloaks. I removed the cloaks, replaced a number of arms and repositioned the heads before adding new cloaks from greenstuff.

Yet more Greek, no gifts
Yes, even more Greeks, this breaks the bulk of the rework/rebasing task
Yet more hoplites, while basing the last batch I made an error and used 45mm deep bases (rather than my/WRG standard 40mm), but it worked so much better at protecting the spears so I have continued it.
The cavalry, yet more arm swapping and the the figures on the right have a lot of their heads positioned to look where they are going
All that is left to do are the commanders and the units I somehow missed in listing my original army.

A large batch this time, three units of hoplites, two of peltasts and one psiloi

Upgrading my Ancient Greeks
Well not a good start to the new blogger - couldn't find how to add pictures. So here are my first units of upgraded Ancient Greeks
The changes are new bases, shield decals replaced and half the psiloi had their phyrgian caps sanded down so they were bare headed.
For comparison here are old and new. You can see why I need to change.

Romans Artillery & more Scythians
When I found the remaining Scythians I also discovered some partially based Roman Artillery so they got based up properly at the same time.
The Scythians are the same Rospaks as before, whereas the Romans are Italeri with metal bolt shooters. I'm not sure who made the bolt shooters but at least they were 20mm to match the figures.

My Ancient Greek army
For those who like army parades, I was inspired by the articles on Rospaks on the Vintage Wargames blog to have another look at my Greeks.

It's a lovely army, if I were painting it now I would put more variety into the colours used. It never does well in WRG 6th so it is hardly used for that. I last used it for some hoplite warfare rules from Slingshot about 6 months ago.
