Sopwith Camel

The second of my aircraft for the Wargames Forum April 30 Day Group Build was an Esci Sopwith Camel. I applied quite a simple paint job so I can use it for operations in the Middle East.
There were no decals with the kit so I use some left over WW2 versions

Fokker D VII

I constructed the kit for the Wargames Forum April 30 Day Group Build. As it turned out that was the easier part as I then had to paint the little Fokker! Now completed.
Another problem was sourcing a replacement prop, I ended up using a couple of WW2 propellor blades of the correct size fixed to a circular piece of plastic rod
The underside reveals the real painting problem and the screw used to fix the aircraft to the magnet on the stand.

Just in time - WW1 Aircraft

Just in time for the Wargamers Forum kit 30 day build
An Esci Sopwith Camel
and an Esci Fokker D VII
Apart from the missing propellor the biggest challenge was finding where to locate the supports after applying the decals, hence the damage
The painting will be tricky

Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck

Wehen I came acroos the STL file for Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck, the "Lion of Africa" I knew I had to add him as the commander of my German Askaris. (wikipedia)
The figure cam with an askari trumpeter pointing something out so a great combination
File can be found here link

Ford Model Ts

I have painted my first pair of Ford Models Ts for WW1, one for my desert British and the other for my Russians. I was hoping to find some suitable crews for them as STL files, but so far no luck.
I have also started on creating a pickup version digitally.

Replacement hulls for Lanchester Armoured Cars

Yet again I have had to replace a couple of vehicles from my initial attempts at 3D printing. In this case the hulls developed a crack, one was too noticeable but the other was minor, so I decided to replace them both.
The original post is here (link)

Rebased RCW Cavalry

Quite a collection of cavalry for the Russian Civil War, With these rebased I've completed all my existing WW1 and RCW units
Generic Russian Cavalry
Cossack Cavalry
Red Army Cavalry

Rebased RCW Cossack Infantry

Continuing the Russian Civil War theme here are a couple of units of cossack infantry or alternatively as dismounted cavalry.

WW1/RCW "White" Russian Infantry

Another three units to add to my WW1/Russian Civil War collection. All depict White Russian units and are based on the HaT WW1 Russian figures.
One of the Kornilov regiments
The composite Imperial Guard regiment (I have given them their parade hat and trousers to make them a bit different)
A Markov regiment
The flags are some I had spare I will add some better ones in due course.

WW1 Austro-Hungarian rebasing

I don't have a large force of Austro-Hungarians but they also need rebasing to bring up to current standards (except for the artillery)
I did comtemplate giving them a light wash to bring them completely up to date but I decided to leave them as is for now.
The unit with light blue breeches and hat tops is actually Ukrainian, but could easilt be used as Hungarian.

WW1 Russians rebasing - part 1

A big step forward with most of my remaining old based Russian infantry, etc. rebased.
Each unit has a flagpole so I can add an appropriate flag depending on which faction they are representing.
Most of the figures are HaT
Along with the guns I have reworked my old Russian WW2 limbers (ex Airfix) to provide mobility

More Ottomans for Palestine WW1

I decided to increase my Ottomans for Palestine so I acquired a second set of the lovely Strelets figures. Part of the bundle was some more artillery crews so I printed off some Krupp 77mm Feldkanone for them to use.
In due course I will dispose of my older HaT Turks (link)

RCW Anarchist leaders Makhno and Schuss

A useful little addition to my Russian Civil War collection from Wargames Iluustrated digital. A pair of figures of the Anarchist leaders Nestor Makhno and Fedir Schuss. These were scaled to 20mm and one set was painted as described, but the other pair was given a more generic appearance.
I think I need a better camera (or technique) to show off the detail on the figures.

Replacement Austin Armoured Cars

These are my replacements for the versions that "exploded". The turrets came from the originals so I did not have to reprint them.
The originals are here link

WW1 French field kitchen

One of Strelets more unusual sets is a French field kitchen for circa WW1. The pack contained two field kitchens and a selection of associated figures. A bit of eye-candy for behind the lines.

WW1 French tanks

Now for some really colourful tanks, a Renault Schneider CA1 and a Saint-Chamond. both are 3D printed and have been scaled up from 1/200 to 1/76.
8The most obvious flaws in scaling are the hotchkiss machine guns, which are quite crudely modelled so that they are robust in 1/200.

Reinforcements for Dunsterforce

A couple of Lanchester armoured cars, quite simply finished
These are resin prints and one of my original Austins behind, they are nice models but I did manage to print one to almost 1/56 scale first by failing to check the scaling.

A quick diversion to the Middle East

A pair of Austin armoured cars for Dunsterforce.
Dunsterforce operated in Northern Iran and Southern Caucasus in the period after the Russian Revolution

WW1 French MMGs

While hunting for something else I came across a pair of Matchbox WW2 Japanese MMGs, which look close enough to the Hotchkiss model 1914 used by the French. A head swap and a couple of other suitable figures and I have a couple of MMGs to support my WW1 French.

WW1 French summer 1917

A nice contrast to my Germans and British for the same era. These are all Strelets figures

The infantry are all in summer uniform, organised in a platoon of 41 men, 2 sections of 9 men (including 2 bombers, but there was no one throwing grenades in the set!!) and 2 sections of 9 men (each with 1 chauchat and 3 VB)

The heavier support a Scheider 105mm

and a 155mm GPF

The artillery lacks detail, but is good enough for wargames purposes, the figures provided enough for the crews some loader teams and a couple of OP teams

I really had to have one of these after I found one at the Batterie Moltke on Jersey
