Bovingdon 1965?

A quick trip down memory lane with photos from a family holiday in Swanage with an excursion to the Tank Museum

I've always liked Panzer IVs

Great view from the top of a Jagdtiger
Panzer II and Lynx
SU100? and T34/85
Of course there's also the Panther, great children's slide at the front

and a Tiger I
And a couple of postcards

It still looked pretty much the same when I first visited in the early '90s (only in colour...) I was there last summer http://megablitzandmore.blogspot.com/2011/06/tank-museum-visit-part-1-overview.html

They look much larger in real life don't they. I haven't seen many tanks personally, I did meet a nice Stuart a couple of years ago. The Aberdeen Proving ground look like they have a nice collection though. Ben.

I managed to visit Bovington for the first time only a couple of years ago (after many years of trying!) - an amazing collection and very well displayed. I too was struck by just how large some of those things are, it makes you realise that most of the 1/72 figures are way out of scale with the vehicles!

Wow, great pictures. I'm planning a Bovington trip this spring with a few mates, been putting it off for several years as it's a 700 mile round trip and I'm the only driver! Still, I can't wait.

I'm pretty sure you can't climb up onto the tanks now like you can in these pictures!?
