Zvezda Swedish dragoons

I was in my local Modelzone today and saw they had the new Zvezda figures, so I got a packet hoping they would be usable with the rest of my SYW army, that's made up of Revell figures. Unfortunately they are huge. If the PSR sizing is used the the Revell Austrian Dragoons are 24mm and the Zvezda Swedish Dragoons are 27mm. Here are a couple of comparison pictures.
Although the Zvezda cavalryman is substantially larger, the horse is actually slightly smaller highlighted by swapping the mounts.
The Zvezda sculpting is excellent as always and I'm left wondering if I can somehow use the figures without the size difference being too noticeable

Thanks for the comparison photos, Will. That's very helpful. I might have to get some of those myself.

They'd be OK kept in separate units.

I had a similar problem with the Zvezda vs. Accurate English longbowmen. I wanted to mix the figures together to get a more varied look to my units but ended up having to put the Zvezda giants in their own unit.

I'd say the difference is far from significant, but then I've never been that fussed by size. My Zvezda Republican Romans tower over the Airfix celts who sometimes attack them. Presumably these figures would make excellent Guard Dragoons....

Lovely looking sculpts - I'd go with "separate unit"... I have the same problem with a regiment of Front Rank AWI grenadiers - they tower over my Minifigs guys, but in a separate unit the difference is nowhere near as obvious..

As a separate unit they'll be fine. As an aside, they look GREAT on the Revel horses too. I'd consider using a few of the Revel horses in your unit for variety. Horses of different size don't seem as obvious as different sized riders.

If the units still look a bit 'off' you can always base the Zvezda on thinner bases.

Ah yes, the unfortunate scale creep again. The Zvezda figures are nice sculpts but clearly are not 1/72nd in scale no matter how elastic a scale that might be.

Actually, on a serious note here, what's the legal position I wonder regarding Zvezda (mis?)selling these as 1/72 scale? The trading standards people might take a dim view.

If you bought a box of these without realsing how large they were, would you be entitled to take them back to shop and ask for a refund?

Nice figures though :)

I'm not happy with the difference in height between Hat and Zvezda, but I still mix 'em together. What I do like is how Zvezda fits the riders to their mounts. The pegs really help. I'd rather not use a metal pin, as I'm worried my dog or kids could hurt themselves on an errant cavalryman.
